Obtaining an Apostille for Czech or Foreign Documents

It is international confirmation in accordance with the Hague Convention on Apostilles that a specific document was actually issued by a public authority of a certain country or state. Czech Citizenship by Descent

Many Czechoslovak citizens have left the country during the world wars, after the communist coup in 1948, during the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, or any time during the communist era. Most of them migrated to the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and Israel. The descendants of Czech and Czechoslovak emigrants now have a chance to claim Czech citizenship.

On 23 June 2016, British citizens decided in a referendum to withdraw from the European Union. This referendum was subsequently confirmed by the British government, and on 29 March 2017, a two-year period for signing the agreement commenced.

Stricter rules for granting employment cards to corporate members

With respect to the last amendment to Act no. 326/1999 Sb. on the residence of foreign nationals in the Czech Republic (the “Act”), several important changes have occurred, among others, also for members of the executive bodies of companies. Up to the time of the amendment, foreigners in the position of a partner, member of the executive body, or another corporate body could apply for a long-term business visa and also an employment card, provided that an employment permit was issued in this context.

Amendment to the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Czech Republic

On 1 August 2017, Amendment no. 222/2017 Sb. was published in the Collection of Laws, which amends Act no. 326/1999 Sb. on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Czech Republic, referred to as the Foreigners Act. The act comes into effect on 15th day after its publication, which means 15 August 2017. The amendment should make the conditions for the residence of foreign nationals more stringent and restrict in particular economic migration.
